But, the first stop to a national title is earning one of four spots in the CFP.

Georgia looking to continue dynasty
Two years ago, Georgia snapped a 40-year drought without a championship trophy. Now, Kirby Smart’s squad is looking to hoist it for the third-straight season.
Since the start of the 2021 season, the Bulldogs have dropped just one meeting to carry a sparkling 29-1 record. Though Georgia will be filling holes NFL draftees, like QB Stetson Bennett and Jalen Carter, it’s a revolving door of talent eager to play for the college’s current best.

But not to fret, the Dawgs still have top players on their leash, including the nation’s best tight end Brock Bowers. Here’s a few notable names returning to the offensive unit, which finished fourth with 41.6 PPG:
|Returning Player||Position||Receiving Yards (2022)||Rushing Yards (2022)||Total Touchdowns (2022)|
Georgia football is the most lethal program in the country right now until it proves otherwise. According to our odds calculator, -250 implies a 71.43% chance of the Dawgs seeing the CFP.
Which Team Is Providing Good Value To Make The CFP?
I’ve got a couple of options to make the CFP here that I’ve plucked off the oddsboard that provide some extra profit for your bank.
USC Trojans (+260)
The profit isn’t overwhelming, but it’s still there. There’s got to be some sort of advantage when you have last year’s Heisman Trophy winner tossing for you. Caleb Williams currently favored to win back-to-back awards for the first time since 1975, carried his team to an 11-3 record. It was the Trojans first winning record since 2017.
The junior led the nation with 42 touchdowns, piled up over 4,500 passing yards and limited his errors by recording just five interceptions (ranked 16th). The 6-foot-1 signal-caller will be joined by some top recruits, including the No. 1 wide receiver of the 2023 class Zachariah Branch, who is known for nearly reaching Usain Bolt’s top speed.
Zachariah Branch reportedly hit 26 MPH during training recently.
That is 1.33 MPH short of Usain Bolt’s record top speed of 27.33 MPH.
Branch is already on the radar of NFL teams and he’s just a FRESHMAN at USC.
One of the fastest players college football has EVER seen.

Clemson Tigers (+320)
The Tigers are desperate to get back into the playoffs. In the CFP era, Clemson was there each year from 2015-16 to 2020-21. Now, the Tigers haven’t clinched in back-to-back seasons.
Perhaps the bad omen was quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred to the Oregon State Beavers, and his inconsistency. His final chance expired in the ACC game against North Carolina, where Uiagalelei managed just 10 yards. Then came Cade Klubnik to save the day.
Cade Klubnik won the ACC Championship Game MVP as an 18-year-old true freshman
He was 20/24 for 279 yards 1 TD and 0 INTs + 1 rush TD

The then-freshman, completed 83% of his tosses in the debut to push for the 39-10 win. The offseason preparation and training will only boost the young star.
Let’s not forget the Tigers’ defense is a saving grace too, ranking 20th last season by allowing opponents 21.5 PPG. If you ask me, Clemson is long overdue to see the CFP again. I think it’ll be a revamped team this year.

College Football Win Totals To Bet On
After crunching numbers, here’s a quick recap of the best win total bets. If you’re looking for a deeper explanation, check out our complete win total page!
Colorado Buffaloes OVER 3 Wins
New head coach Deion Sanders is about to turn this program upside down and after finishing last season 1-11, it’s hard to imagine the Buffaloes get worse.
Based on his recent resume at Jackson State, Sanders doesn’t take his time rebuilding. I expect the Buffaloes to manage the 3 wins total and could predict them against Nebraska Cornhuskers (Week 2), Colorado State Rams (Week 3), Arizona State Sun Devils (Week 6), Stanford Cardinal (Week 7) or the Arizona Wildcats (Week 10).
Notre Dame OVER 9 wins
Sam Hartman, an early Heisman Trophy favorite, is looking like Notre Dame’s saving grace. Finally, the Fighting Irish have a veteran, consistent leader behind the snap.
This is what preseason practices are all about. Intense competition.
Great route by Jaden Greathouse. Great throw from Sam Hartman. Better defensive play by Thomas Harper.

The Wake Forest transfer completed over 63 percent of his tosses in his last season with the Demon Deacons. He posted over 3,700 yards and 38 touchdowns, which pushed him to hold the ACC record in passing touchdowns (110).
Odds to go undefeated in 2023
It’s not easy, but it’s possible for the best in college football to shine with a perfect record. As always, a full breakdown is at our odds to go undefeated page.
|Alabama Crimson Tide||+425||-700|
|Florida State Seminoles||+800||-2000|
|North Carolina Tar Heels||+2000||-10000|
|Notre Dame Fighting Irish||+1000||-4000|
|Ohio State Buckeyes||+330||-500|
|Penn State Nittany Lions||+800||-2000|
Odds as of August 3
Only two groups finished last regular season with undefeated records, the Michigan Wolverines (13-0) and the Dawgs (13-0), who went on to win the national title.
Michigan Wolverines (+425)
Since returning from the mess of 2020, the Big Blue have gone 25-3 under Jim Harbaugh. The back-to-back Big 10 champions return to the field this year with the same shining stars in QB J.J. McCarthy and RB Blake Corum, who should be healthier than ever before.
USC Trojans (+500)
The Trojans were a lot better than what their 11-3 record last year shows. USC should’ve competed in the CFP and it’s a shame we didn’t witness Williams in playoff glory. But, maybe this year we can catch him and Branch put on a show for us. Another group moving onto an intimidating Big 10 conference, USC will want to prove it has what it takes to compete.
How To Read College Football Playoff Odds
At any sportsbook, you’ll see College Football Playoff (CFP) odds listed like so:
Alabama Crimson Tide: YES -260, NO +200
If you’re looking at Alabama’s odds to make it to the postseason at -260 and decided to bet $100 on them, you’d get a payout of $138.46 – your original $100 is returned along with your winnings of $38.46. On the other hand, if you think they will not make the playoffs at +200, that same $100 would get you $300 – you get your $100 back coupled with your prize of $200. Our odds calculator will tell you what you’d win based on the odds and amount bet.
Some sportsbooks only have YES odds to make the college football playoff, especially as we get deeper into the season.
What Is A Futures Bet On NCAA Football?
When you wager on a team’s postseason chances, it’s called a futures bet. This is a bet on events that will happen in time. It can be said that all sports betting is on events that have yet to occur; however, futures can be made weeks or months in advance instead of prior to game day. You could take Clemson to miss the CFP before college football season even starts.
Oddsmakers will adjust the lines as more games are played and teams rise and fall in the standings. We suggest jumping on odds early, so you don’t miss out on great lines. If you wait until closer to bowl season, you could be stuck with odds that don’t have any value.
