In its latest report, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) revealed that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming during July was $467.04 million. That includes income from:
- Slot machines
- Table games
- Internet gaming
- Sports betting
- Fantasy contests
- Video gaming terminals (VGTs)
Online gambling revenue in Pennsylvania throughout July was $132.86 million, a yearly increase but a monthly drop.
Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $192.0 million during July 2023.
Pennsylvania’s online casino apps took in more money from players in FY 2022/23 than in any previous fiscal year.
Pennsylvania gaming revenue reaches $467 million in total
Twenty Pennsylvania casinos collected $467,043,707 in total gaming revenue in July, a 6% monthly increase from $440,491,675 collected in June. July’s revenue figure is also an 8.85% yearly improvement compared to revenue generated in July 2022.
The best-performing Pennsylvania casinos throughout July 2023 were:
- Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course: $70,085,180
- Parx Casino: $56,108,246
- Valley Forge Casino Resort: $54,642,48
While Hollywood Casino and Valley Forge Casino showed a yearly increase of 25.62% and 32.07%, respectively, Parx Casino reported a 0.48% yearly drop.
PA online gambling revenue increases yearly, drops monthly
There are currently 10 online casino operators in the Keystone State that compiled $132,859,997 during July. The number is a 35% yearly increase from $98.57 million in July last year. However, it is a 19% monthly drop from the $164.3 million generated in June.
The top three PA operators in July were:
- Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course: $54,392,661
- Valley Forge Casino Resort: $29,221,202
- Rivers Casino Philadelphia: $26,825,080
Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during July 2023 was $57.30 million.
PA sports betting revenue in July decreased from June
PA licensed sportsbooks won more than $32 million in total revenue during July 2023. The figure is a slight monthly decrease from June 2023’s $33.8 million. At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for July 2023 is a 26% yearly improvement compared to July 2022, when taxable revenue was $25.44 million.
In July 2023, the total sports betting handle was $338.45 million or 0.58% above the July 2022 total of $336.51 million.
Pennsylvania reported a record fiscal year 2022/23
Last month, the PGCB reported record tax revenue for the state for fiscal year 2022-23 of $2.3 billion.
Gaming revenue reached a record $5.5 billion, a 9% increase from 2021-2022’s previous record-high figures. Nearly $2.45 billion in revenue came from slot machines, while $974.0 million came from table game revenue. FY 2022/23 was the state’s second highest-performing fiscal year for slot machine revenue, after FY 2011/12’s $2.47 billion.
Pennsylvania’s online gaming sector of $1.53 billion also increased by 24% from the previous fiscal year.
